Piedmont House is a halfway house for nonviolent male felons providing shelter, haven, food, other support services and commonsense counseling in a ninety-day program with an emphasis on finding and maintaining employment. Ob Portus facilitates specialty workshops for the Piedmont House residents during their ninety-day program. These specialty workshops include motivational development techniques and mindfulness practices.
The purpose of STARS is to provide a group home for at-risk adolescents who are in need of learning life skills and age-appropriate independent living skills, while in a safe and therapeutic environment. The program is centered on trauma and attachment informed care, reality therapy principles and emphasizes a percentage and privilege system to help motivate the resident’s growth and success. Ob Portus facilitates a separate Book Club each week with the male and female residents. Both groups are currently reading The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.
